Prague´s integrated public transport (PID) can get you around by metro, trams, buses, and also fun novelty vehicles such as boats or cable car.
Metro operates on three lines – A (green), B (yellow) and C (red). Each line has a „transfer station” where you can change from one line to another. Have a look at the attached metro plan to get familiar with the stations. The metro operates from 5am till midnight (last trains leaves 12am from all terminal stations).
Trams are a favourite type of transport for most because you get to see the city and are very handy when traveling on a shorter distance. If you ever want to do a bus tour around Prague, save your money on the tourist hop on buses and hop on tram number 22 instead.
Buses can get you around the whole city – even at night. While trams are focused more on the city centre and the inner parts buses can take you everywhere.
Tickets
You can get a singular ticket that covers all means of the public transport you just have to choose the time.
Paper ticket: You can get a paper ticket from the ticket machines located at metro stations (sometimes on new buses on trams) and major stops (most accept cards) or newsstands. Physical single ticket is valid for a certain amount of time from the moment you validate it in the validation machine places in front of the mento entrance or on trams and buses.
Mobile ticket: The easiest way to get a ticket is through the PID app where you can pay with your card or applepay.
SMS ticket: You can buy your ticket through a SMS but only with a Czech phone number. Just type DPT31 (for a 30-minute ticket) to 90206. You can get a day one or a three day one as well – just changing the number after DPT according to this guide: SMS jízdenka | Dopravní podnik hl. m. Prahy, akciová společnost

Final tips:
When in doubt be nice. There are couple unwritten rules all passengers follow to make sure everyone feels respected and enjoys their commute.
- If you see an elderly or pregnant person, it is expected to offer them your seat. They might not take it but always offer.
- Do not sit at the disabled seats. There are allocated seats for disabled people usually at the front of the bus of the tram.
- Let everyone get out before entering. Don´t stand straight in front of the door so passengers getting out have the room to exit before you start entering.
- Try to keep your voice down when on the phone of chatting to a friend.
